It shows California and the rest of the US from the perspective of a typical Californian. The sun, as you can see, quite literally always shines on California and the other states well, just take a look: a barren expanse of spider webs, storm clouds, and a plane heading from east to west with the phrase "we'll soon be there!" above it.
